Terms of use
Short, and written to be read rather than scrolled past.
No legal advice
Everything on this site is general information about how legal rules work. It is not legal advice, it is not tailored to anyone's situation, and it cannot account for your state, your facts, your deadlines or your history. Do not act on it without checking the official source it cites, and do not treat it as a substitute for a licensed attorney where one is warranted.
No attorney–client relationship
Clear Justice is a publication. It is not a law firm, employs no attorneys in that capacity, takes no clients and provides no representation. Reading this site, searching it, or writing to the address on the contact page creates no attorney–client relationship and no duty of confidentiality. Do not send us anything you would not want read by a stranger.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is. We work hard to be accurate and we correct errors quickly, but we do not warrant that every page is complete, current or free of mistakes, and law changes constantly. To the fullest extent the law allows, Clear Justice is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on anything published here.
External links
Some pages link to government sites, courts and agencies as sources, and a few link to professional services where a reader might want one. We do not control those sites, do not endorse them, do not vouch for anything they say or do, and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. An outbound link is a pointer, not a recommendation, and nobody pays for one.
Using the content
- Read it, print it, save it, and send it to anyone you like. That is what it is for.
- Quote it with attribution and a link back to the page you took it from.
- Do not republish whole answers, or substantial parts of the site, as your own.
- Do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other readers.
- Do not use the content to train a model that reproduces it, or feed it into a system that presents it as original output without attribution.
- The Clear Justice name and mark are ours. The typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font License; their licenses ship with the site.
Accuracy reports
If you find an error, the corrections page explains how to report it and what happens next. We would rather be corrected than be consistent.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version replaces this one on this page. There is no account to notify and no mailing list to send to, so the page itself is the notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the United States and of the state in which the publisher is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits any right you have under a consumer protection law that cannot be waived by agreement.
